Before there was Hillary, there was Eleanor!
Join the Friends of Barrington Public Library, Sunday April 6 at 2 PM for Elena Dodd’s performance in “Meet Eleanor Roosevelt”.
This performance is free and open to all. The annual meeting of the Friends of Barrington Library precedes the program, at 1:30 PM. Refreshments will follow the Eleanor Roosevelt program!

April is National Poetry Month. For all of you out there who enjoy writing poems in response to writing exercises, here is a good one to try. It was taken from the Jacaranda Press website. The inviting piece of art, above, is by Lisa Pastille, whose work will be on display at the Library in April. This is the information she sent us about her display: During the month of April, an exhibit of digital artwork by Lisa Pastille will be featured on the Barrington Public Library’s wall display. Lisa is a classically trained, published, fine artist. She has created a novel type of image not before seen by the general public. She calls this digital technique Interpretive Photo Painting....

When is it us?
Recently we’ve learned that lots of Barrington, RI folks are mistakenly placing holds on items that belong to the library in Barrington, NH!
It’s an easy mistake to make. The webpage for Barrington, NH is www.barringtonlibrary.com and ours is www.barringtonlibrary.org.
What a difference a few letters can make!
So when placing a reserve on a book, please be sure to use .org!!

ACTOR RICHARD WIDMARK DIES
Richard Widmark, whose long acting career included appearances in such wonderful films noir as Night and the City, Pickup on South Street, Panic in the Streets, and an Academy Award-nominated performance in Kiss of Death, died Monday at age 93.

FILM DIRECTOR ANTHONY MINGHELLA DIES
Academy-Award winning film director Anthony Minghella, whose body of work included adaptations of books by Charles Frazier, Patricia Highsmith and Michael Ondaatje, passed away earlier this week at the age of 54.

Evelyn Cherpak of the Naval War College will give an illustrated lecture, The Waves in WWII: Memories of Rhode Island Women, on Tues., April 1, 2008 at 7:30 PM. This program will be our annual Barrington Preservation Society/Barrington Public Library co-sponsored event for the year. This program is also sponsored by the RI Council for the Humanities.
