I just finished reading this year’s Reading Across Rhode Island selected book, Water for Elephants.  It’s a wonderful book and I know we’ll have so much to talk about when we have our library book discussion group.  Sign up for the evening session begins February 28.

Libraries have been called “America’s greatest bargain”.  If you would like to see how much of a bargain, go to this link: http://www.olis.ri.gov/grants/gia/calculator.php You can easily calculate what “return” you get on your tax dollar, each time you use a library service. This information was provided by Rhode Island's Office of Library and Information Services.

The State of Rhode Island no longer distributes tax forms to libraries but our library can help by providing photocopy service or downloading forms for 15 cents per page.  Forms can be obtained via computer by the website www.tax.ri.gov, by calling 574-8970, or going to the Rhode Island Division of Taxation at One Capitol Hill in Providence Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 3:30. A reminder: The library staff is not trained to provide tax help, but you can call 574-8829 for assistance.
