A New Chapter Upstairs: 2nd Floor Renovation Blog
March 22, 2017
The children’s department continues to be transformed every day with more and more details being added. Right now the contractors are working on installing beautiful wooden structures that will house the lights in the department. These wooden beams inspire our imagination. Do they resemble the ribs of a whale, the keel of a boat, piano keys? I have had many people give me different ideas, and I hope everyone who sees the children’s room once it is completed will have their own creative and enjoyable impressions.
Furniture and shelving will soon be arriving. The goal now is to complete Phase I by the 2nd week of April. We will then move the children’s room from its temporary quarters in the gallery and auditorium into its new, very beautiful department! Administrative and staff offices and public meeting rooms will also relocate to the new quarters. Once that is completed it is on to Phase II, the auditorium and gallery, a new small conference room, and the green room and office for the community services librarian. Stay tuned!
