A New Chapter Upstairs: 2nd Floor Renovation Blog
June 8, 2017
Phase II of the building project has been progressing steadily since late April. Once again with the framing of the new spaces we can see the shape of what will soon be. Phase II encompasses a new small meeting room, restrooms for the public, a green room for performers, an office for the library’s adult programmer, a handicapped accessible lift to the stage, and most excitingly, a complete renovation of the auditorium and gallery program and meeting rooms.
Once Phase II is complete, probably by mid-July, we have one small phase to complete. Phase III will be the renovation of the stairway from the lower level to the 2nd floor. For safety reasons, this work cannot be done while people are using the stairs. However, the elevator can be used. We are working on a plan to allow the use of other exits in the Peck Center library during this brief phase which should take about 2 weeks.
Naming opportunities still remain to name one of the new chairs in the stadium style auditorium. For more information, ask at the library.
We are also planning a wonderful celebration of the 2nd floor building project. Please make a note to set aside a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon, September 24 to celebrate with music, food, and good cheer in the community!
