Archibishop Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (1984) and the Templeton Prize (2013) and chair of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (1994), joins with his daughter Mpho, an Anglican priest, to explain the healing power of forgiveness for ourselves and for the ones who have inflicted injury upon us. THey also discuss the importance of self-forgiveness in freeing ourselves from the past. The book offers a comprehensive four-step process for forgiving: telling the story, naming the hurt, granting forgiveness and choosing to renew - or release - the relationship. To support this process and to cultivate an attitude of compassion, the authors offer a wide range of practical techniques including prayer, meditation and journal exercises.
