“Love” by Matt Zinni. Dynamic acrylic paintings by Matthew Zinni are on display at the Library during the month of February 2008. Some of his paintings incorporate poetry into their matrix. Come and enjoy the poetry and the energy!
During the month of February 2008, look for a diorama on display by Barrington native and college student Sam Andrews. The diorama was inspired by the WWII classic film The Bridge on the River Kwai. Sam, who worked as a “page” at the Library during his highschool years, is happy to give something back to his former workplace by sharing this creative and visually exciting exhibit with Library patrons and staff.
The library has provided the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form for several years, but the Federal Department of Education has now suspended distribution of these forms to schools and libraries due to a decrease in the submission of these forms by students as it appears this is now being done on line for the most part.
Students will be able to request up to three paper copies by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 and should receive them in 3 to 7 business days.

This year Lauri Burke and I will be leading book discussion groups focused around the Reading Across Rhode Island (RARI) selection Water For Elephants by Sarah Gruen. As part of our yearly participation, we like to pair discussion of the RARI selection with a fiction or non-fiction choice of our own that somehow relates to or expands upon the RARI theme.
Yes, there are actually several libraries called Barrington Library in the U.S.A. Some of our library users have mistakenly sent book requests to the other Barrington libraries, located in New Hampshire and the mid-West. So, to be certain you are contacting us, please always use this address: http://www.barringtonlibrary.org/
Join Allan Klepper as he gives a travel program focusing on the fun of participating in a dinosaur dig in Utah. His presentation, Jurassic Park: There Are Bones to Pick, will be given on Thursday, March 6 at 7:30 PM. It is free and open to all.
Beginning February 12, 2008 and continuing each Tuesday through tax season, the AARP will do free tax filing for seniors and those on low or limited income at the library, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The annual giant Friends of the Barrington Library booksale was a great success this past weekend. The sale brought in more than $7,000! The proceeds will be used to purchase museum passes, library programs, recorded books, teen materials, and many other items that the Friends purchase for the library each year.
Our sincere appreciation goes to the members of the Friends and many library staff who put real effort into making this sale a success!
