This political satire features Chaplin in dual roles: Adenoid Hynkel (a parody of Adolf Hitler), and a humble Jewish barber who is a dead ringer for the dictator. Made and released before the United States entered World War II, it was the first of Chaplin's films to fully employ spoken dialogue.
