Come and enjoy the Library’s wonderfully immersive Surround Sound system, and its high definition video capabilities, when MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD is screened on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 6:30 PM.

Set during the Napoleonic Wars, Russell Crowe stars as Jack Aubrey, naval captain of the British ship HMS Surprise. Aubrey is charged with intercepting and disabling a French ship called the Acheron. Paul Bettany plays Stephen Maturin, the ship’s surgeon and Aubrey’s friend.

If you want to feel as if you’re on board the creaking British ship, riding out the turbulent storms at sea and engaged in battle by cannon fire, head over to our Auditorium. Be advised, though, that you may want to take your motion sickness medication beforehand!

Looking forward to see you come aboard for this adventure.
