2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

Come experience director Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY in high definition and with surround sound, on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 6:30 PM. The 1968 film was based partly on a short story by science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, who called it "an attempt to convey the probable place of Man in the hierarchy of the universe.“ Short on plot–and containing only 40 minutes of dialogue during its nearly 2 ½ hour running time–the movie is visually stunning, and one that is open to interpretation. Kubrick himself called the film "a mythological statement… [whose] meaning has to be found on a sort of visceral, psychological level…”

I look forward to seeing you in our auditorium for a demonstration of the true power of film to move us.
