It is a much-enjoyed part of our job to give advice to readers at the Barrington Public Library Reference Desk. The bonus is that those we advise often give us reading suggestions in return. This back and forth interchange is fun and extremely helpful to us, giving greater breadth and depth our Readers’ Advisory Services. From time to time in this blog we will be sharing information on books suggested to us by readers; we may also end some of these entries with reading advice of our own....

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD! In honor of Oscar, March is “Hooray for Hollywood” Month at the Barrington Public Library.  The Library is currently featuring a special display of film DVDs as well as nonfiction and fiction books that explore the subject of American films, film stars and movie-making.  When you visit the Library ground floor, look for a sign featuring the young Bette Davis and the words “Hooray for Hollywood” and you’ll find the exhibit. Early closing, due to snow Barrington Library will close at 5 PM on Wednesday, February 10, due to snow. The library will reopen at 9 AM on Thursday morning.
